Canadian Press, according to the latest poll conducted by Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB), as many as 6 of Canada's retailers said they had experienced customers' first shopping online, and over 3 became shopkeepers, also known as this phenomenon has seriously affected their turnover.

CFIB, a member of 11 SMEs in Canada, conducted a nationwide retail survey in this (2019) year in from November 7th to 25th (2019). It sampled 1663 owners who had shopped after online shopping.

Dan Kelly, President of CFIB, said that some consumers would go to the store to inquire about or try some kind of goods, then jot down the type of goods or take pictures so that they can buy online later. This will not only reduce the revenue of small shops in local communities, but also reduce the activities of community stores or raise donations for community food banks.

CFIB commissioned Angus Reid Institute, a public opinion company, to conduct a consumer behavior survey. It was found that 55% of respondents had "first shoped online after the physical store". Among them, consumers aged 18 to 34 were more likely to "go shopping online after physical shopping" than older consumers. As many as 75% of 18 to 34 year old respondents admitted shopping this way, and more than 14% indicated that they often did so.
